The 86th Academy Awards which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will present its annual Academy Awards to honor the best films of 2013 in the United States. The ceremony is scheduled for March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. This will be a week later than normal so as not to interfere with the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.The ceremony is to be televised in the United States by ABC and will be hosted by comedienne Ellen DeGeneres for the second time. She previously hosted the 79th ceremony in 2007.On September 5, 2013, The Academy announced the three nominees that will be honored with an Academy Honorary Award: the actress Angela Lansbury, the actor and producer Steve Martin, and the costume designer Piero Tosi. Angelina Jolie will be honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her charity work. For the Academy Award for Best Picture, 289 films are eligible.

ABS-CBN Dyesebel tis 2014 is Anne Curtis!

The wait is over! ABS-CBN confirms who will play Dyesebel and she is no other than Anne Curtis. The announcement was made Thursday in a press conference which made the hashtag #Dyesebel and terms Anne Curtis is Dyesebel a top trending topic on Twitter.

Anne Curtis is not new to mermaid roles as she once played one in the fantaserye Dyosa where she played the three goddess characters including a mermaid named Dyosa Agua. The said series also stars Sam Milby, who will join Anne in Dyesebel as Liro, along with Gerald Anderson who will play Dyesebel's mortal lover Fredo.

Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel ABS-CBN started to air teasers for Dyesebel November last year which heightened the anticipation of the fans. The guessing game on who will play Dyesebel also intensified since then.

Before the official confirmation, actresses who are reportedly being considered to play the love-lorn mermaid Dyesebel in this ABS-CBN adaptation aside from Anne include KC Concepcion, Angel Locsin, Erich Gonzales, Sarah Geronimo, Maja Salvador, Jessy Mendiola and Kim Chiu.

Dyesebel will start taping soon and the show is expected to air first quarter of 2014. This is another Dreamscape Entertainment production and will be directed by Don Cuaresma and Francis Xavier Pasion.

"Feast of the Black Nazarene" January 9

MANILA, Philippines – On Thursday, January 9, the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene (Andas) shows the strong catholic faith of the Filipinos which draws again million crowds.

The Black Nazarene, with the cross resting on his shoulder, will make its way along the roads of Manila, From Quirino Grandstand mass and procession back to Quiapo Church. Devotees who believe in the miraculous powers of the dark-skinned image will join the procession.

A mass will be celebrated by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle at the Quirino Grandstand before the religious statue traces a path from Luneta to the Quiapo Church.

Korina Sanchez still in ABS-CBN after tiff with Anderson Cooper

After she found herself in hot water in the wake of supertyphoon Yolanda, ABS-CBN anchor Korina Sanchez is officially vacating the radio talk show where she criticized CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

Starting Monday, “Sakto”, a new program hosted by Amy Perez and Marc Logan, will air on the Monday-to-Friday 10-11AM time slot on DZMM that had been occupied by “Rated Korina” since January 2012.

According to a Twitter post by ABS-CBN ad and promo head Eric John Salut on Saturday, Sanchez will continue all her other duties as an ABS-CBN broadcaster:

Sanchez spent the holidays in the United States. On Thursday, talent manager Girlie Rodis posted on Instagram a photo of Sanchez with ABS-CBN TV director Leo Katigbak said to be taken in her New York flat.

On November 13 — five days after Yolanda devastated most of central Philippines — Sanchez spoke out against Cooper’s on-the-ground coverage of the typhoon’s aftermath in Tacloban, which was highly critical of the national government.

“Itong si Anderson Cooper, sabi wala daw government presence sa Tacloban. Mukhang hindi niya alam ang sinasabi niya. (This Anderson Cooper, he said there is no government presence in Tacloban. It seems he doesn’t know what he is saying.),” said Sanchez, the wife of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

Her remark met a chorus of disapproval in social media, as several celebrities lauded Cooper’s work.

The next day, Cooper replied directly to her comment and urged her to go to Tacloban.

That same morning, ABS-CBN reporter Jasmin Romero pinch-hit for Sanchez on “Rated Korina” as the latter flew to another disaster-stricken city in Leyte, Ormoc, and reported live from there that evening on “TV Patrol”.

That weekend, rumors swirled that Sanchez had been suspended by ABS-CBN, which issued no official statement on her absence from her radio show.

She swiftly denied the rumors, claiming she was only on leave from the show while shooting material for “Rated K”, her weekly magazine show on ABS-CBN.

Sanchez returned briefly to “Rated Korina” in early December, but offered no explanation for her lengthy absence.

Showbiz Couple ; Richard Gutierrez & Sarah Lahbati transfering to TV5?

As announced on social networking site, Twitter by talent manager and veteran actress Annabelle Rama, she has confirmed that her son Richard Gutierrez is going to transfer to another television network.

Her tweet had quoted, "Sa lahat ng mga nagtatanong kung saang tv network lilipat si Chard, wait nyo na lang sa January 21 ang big announcement, thanks.”

The question now is, where is Richard to transfer to? GMA’s rival network of ABS-CBN to join the family of a Kapamilya, or to the network where his family shines like stars as a Kapatid on TV5?

Already obvious hints of Richard’s transfer has been noticed as he didn’t renew his to-be contract for 3 years with GMA. There are several reasons and hints that lead to why.

Lately, the Kapuso star hasn’t been seen on television for a while which has been the start of the rumors of his transfer. Along with this, Richard’s projects have been a disappointment along with his last film where he starred along Kapuso Superstar Marian Rivera which was titled “My Lady Boss”. The movie was under GMA Films and Regal Entertainment and didn’t hit well at the box office as they were only able to gross Php 19.45M according to Box Office Mojo.

Other conflicts between Richard and the network was between him and the CEO’s daughter, Annette Gozon-Abrogar who has filed a lawsuit against his girlfriend, Sarah Lahbati. There was also a situation where GMA gave him a “fat memo” which apparently insulted him.

Although currently a freelancer, the questions of where he’s to transfer to save his dying career will be revealed on January 21, as Annabelle has declared.
