MANILA, Philippines – Mary Jean Lastimosa overwhelmed the competition during the recently-concluded Bb. Pilipinas pageant. But she revealed she was not even planning to join the contest until the very last minute. 

Mary Jean, who was crowned Miss Universe-Philippines during the Binibining Pilipinas 2014 coronation night last March 30, said joining the pageant was one of the “toughest decisions” of her life.

“It was a last minute decision for me to join. I think it was December... I was hesitant, I was praying to God if I was going to join or not,” she said during the press conference for the winners of the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 on Wednesday, April 2.

The 2014 pageant wasn't the first time Mary Jean joined the Binibining Pilipinas. The country's representative to the Miss Universe pageant this year joined the pageant in 2011 (where she was named second runner-up) and in 2012 (where she was among the top 12 finalists).

The 26-year-old beauty queen admitted that there was a time she thought joining the Bb. Pilipinas pageant was no longer for her.

“My friends were convincing me to join. I said, 'I don't know if it's for me.' It was a tough decision. It was one of the toughest decisions of my life. And I'm not a usual risk taker, but now I can say I'm a risk taker,” she said.

Mary Jean added, “I'm just thankful I decided to join.”Mary Jean Lastimosa, a 26-year-old from North Cotabato, joins a group of beauties who have done well at the Ms Universe pageant in recent years: Ariella Arida (Ms Universe 2013 runner-up), Janine Tugonon (Ms Universe 2012 1st runner-up), Shamcey Supsup (Ms Universe 2011 3rd runner-up), and Venus Raj (Ms Universe 4th runner-up 2010)

Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler is also present and grace the event as one of the judges.

Kapuso Stars continue awards haul in 2013 Pepster’s Choice

Kapuso stars continued to reap top awards from award-giving bodies – this time from Pepster’s Choice 2013.

Personalities from the television and movie industry gathered for the much-awaited announcement of the Pepster’s Choice 2013 winners this March 27 at the Bonifacio Global City.

Phenomenal Kapuso “love team” Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez of My Husband’s Lover bagged the Love Team of the Year award following their performance in the historical pairing in Philippine television.

Tom also received the Breakout Star of the Year award.

According to Dennis, “Refreshing yung pakiramdam kasi first time nagkaroon ng dalawang lalaki na magka-loveteam. Masaya kami na nangyari 'yun kasi nauna kami sa history.”

“Naninibago pa rin ako parang hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Wow, nangyari pala ‘yun na tinangkilik ninyo ang ganitong klase ng pair-up. Tulad nga ng sabi ni Dennis, sobrang refreshing. October natapos yung My Husband's Lover, di ba? Akala namin dun magtatapos, after nun wala na. Pero nagulat kami sa promo namin na mall show ganon pa rin e,” Tom added.

Eat Bulaga’s Bossing Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon and Ryzza Mae Dizon won the TV Star of the Year, Showbiz Treasure of the Year, and Female Child Star of the Year awards, respectively.

Kapuso youngster Renz Valerio bagged the Male Child Star of the Year award. The 15 year-old explained how he earned the title despite his age.

“Siguro po last year, batang-bata pa po itsura ko. Pa-tweetums pa lang po. Tapos this year po noong pumasok ang 2014, parang nagbago na po ako ng image. Nagpagupit ako ng mas pang-binata na, nagdamit na po ako ng pang-binata na,” he said.

Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona proved that they are reigning supreme in the teen category when they dubbed as the Male and Female Teen Stars of the Year.

Ashley Rivera aka Petra Mahalimuyak the Panniest Wackiest Sexiest Youtube Star is now FHM CoverGirl for April 2014!

And her cover looks a lot of fun, don't you think?

Okay, so her real name may not ring a bell right now, but she's decided to shed her YouTube persona in lieu of who she really is. Petra Mahalimuyak brought her to the mainstream, but the new and improved Ashley is here to stay.

"People might react to this shoot and say, 'Now you’re posing for FHM?' But I was really ready for this," she tells us. "I want people to know that I can be more than just Petra. I can do films, shows, and shoots. I want them to see that I can be a kontrabida, a mermaid, or whatever. Just expect more of me. I’ve been praying and I think I deserve a break." Glad to be of help, darling!

Aside from hooking up with Ashley, the many other awesome things we did in this month's issue include: popped our chests out and tucked our stomachs in to pull off the perfect posture, asked all the women we know what they really, really like, held our own grilling party and took on the meanest steak we could find, and debated with Abby and Jahziel on whether it's okay for a guy to "pop it inside," among others.

GMA Inspired Kapuso Stars Walk of Fame!

Since Master Showman German Moreno is a solid kapuso it's been his longtime dream to have a “Walk of Fame” (similar to that in Hollywood, California) installed in Quezon City, which has also been christened as “City of Stars.”

This was finally realized with the launch of the “Walk of Fame” last Sunday located along Edsa and Timog Avenue surrounding the GMA Network Center, the “Walk of Fame” serves as another milestone in the history of the local entertainment industry which has started in Eastwood Libis. Sampaguita & LVN Pictures are amongst the next target.
